RE: mileage with a diesel

12mpg at 65mph in my 06. 5er is 12'4" tall, pushing air is harder than the weight.

RE: RAM 3500 mega cab dually to pull 5th wheel??

I just got a 07 MC DRW and trying to decide if I go with my B&W companion or superglide? I did not have any trouble with my QQ short box, but now with the longer wheel base I think it might cause me trouble?

RE: Megacab hitch question

Bbuilders, What type of hitch do you have in your MC? I also wanted DRW for the safty factor. Pulling thru the mountains and strong crosswinds can cause white knukles. For those with the superglide, has anyone had any problems hitching up at ackward angles? Here in Montana campgrounds are usually tight, short, and not very level.

RE: Megacab hitch question

Bed length is the same so I will be able to trun the same truck/campr angle as before. I am just wondering about the longer wheel base?

Megacab hitch question

I just sold my Quadcab short box and bought a Megacab DRW. I had a B&W flip hitch with the companion 5th wheel hitch and thought it was great. Easy to hook up and rock solid. I was able to get my camper into some tight places and never hit the cab but was also very careful. I am sure that I could have hit the cab if I turned as tight as the truck would go. How much differance will the longer wheel base make? I still have the companion so should I stay with it or go with a superglide? Hate to spend the extra money. Thanks much.

Rota-flex pinbox install problem

I bought the rota-flex to help with chuking. I tried the 5th airborne but it raised my Wildcat by a few inches and I am already nose high. Well they only make one model which is for the lippert 1621 and that is what is on the wildcat. When I went to install the rota-flex today it would not fit. The main part of the pin box is the same except the welded a extra plate on each outside part where the bolts attach. In other words, too wide and will not fit. Anyone have the same problem? Anyone install one before and did yours have the extra welded plates on the side? Thanks PS We are leaving on a long road trip wed. Bummer.

RE: 2005 chevy LT 3500 DRW

2005 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 LT 4X4 DRW D/A $16,877.77 current bid w/4hrs to go. Sold for $18,101.18 ! WOW That looks like a lot of truck for the price. I am really happy with my truck. 22mpg on the hwy at 65mph empty. I am just a little bit over on weight and would like the safty factor of a dually. I would really like to have seating for 6 as I have three kids. I have a private party deal to trade my truck for a 07 mega cab drw laraime. about the same milage on both trucks. Just trying to figure out a fair price to pay for the difference.

2005 chevy LT 3500 DRW

Looking at a used truck with 57000 miles. Any thoughts on what to look for? Asking $30000 but I would have to trade mine in.

RE: Diesel upgrades and mileage

Diesel power magazine had a Dodge test truck (06?) and changed the cam which produce 2mpg increase towing and unloaded over a closed track test. It did increase emissions slighty. Does cummins know this, YES. But because of the Goverment, they would rather have us use more fuel and cleaner emmissions? How does using more fuel equate to a cleaner enviroment? I am getting 22mpg at 65mph, is it because of the chip?

RE: New TV!!!

Love my B&W hitch but you must watch your cab on a sharp turn. Just a quick tip, get a PacBrake. Love your truck, If I could sell mine I would get one just like yours in Blue.

RE: Famly Search ~ 1st Fifth Wheel

why not over 32 feet? Also a big part of the decision is your tow vehicle, will it pull it? We bought the keystone laredo 32rs loved the floor plan, but you have to make sure whatever you pick you can tow. The Laredo 32rs is a really nice floor plan with the sink in the Master bed room. It was our 2nd choice. We ended up with the Wildcat 32qbbs. We liked the bunk house better and about 3ft shorter than the Laredo. I have squeked my camper into spots that the 3 ft make a huge differance.

RE: TO CHIP OR NOT TO CHIP

I have Edge Juice with the Attitude monitor. My dealer installed it for me. I only use level one for milage and level 2 for towing. It makes a nice differance for towing out here in the west. I just made a trip to Big Sky resort yesterday. 280 miles round trip (not towing) up to the mountain driving 65 when I could. Had mostly head or crosswinds. 21.1mpg. I like to monitor my gauges and use the turbo cool down feature. I would stay away from the Workhorse. They are based here in Helena, MT. It boosts your fuel pressure. Talke to a guy that had one in town and said he did notice increased power and fuel milage but the chip went south.

RE: Looking hard at new F-350 DRW, What should it cost OTD ??

PlaneKrazy, Does this mean you won't be lurking over at Dieseltruckresources? I always enjoyed yours posts. Are you going to trade or sell you Mega? Let us know what you do. I think you will really like the DRW pulling that pretty KZ around. I would like to get a mega DRW but have my truck just the way I want it and to not want to take a hit on selling it.

RE: self-contained or SELF-CONTAINED

Fun read. I would like to have a simple gravity feed system. I do not need to filter large quantitys of water but would like an extra 40gals over the weenend and not have to carry it. Any ideas? Thanks

RE: Calculated MPG - Chev/Dodge 2500 towing 10-12k FW

If you drive in South Dakota your milage will be around 8mpg. I seems I always drive uphill and in a strong head wind? Otherwise I get 12 driving 65 pulling my 5er.

RE: No increase in fuel usage after reaching 20,000 6.7 cummins

I always thought(and still do) the legendary jump in mileage is a bit of horse hockey that the dealers will tell you when you aren't happy with your mileage. My 91' Dodge Cummins got the same mileage at 98,000 miles when I sold it as it did when new. My 01' gets the same at 70,000 today as it did when new. Also, the overhead computer always read 2 or 3 mpg higher that hand calculated mpg. After I "chipped" it long ago, the overhead readout actually shows a mileage figure that is usually off by less than one mile per gallon, compared to actual mileage hand calculated. Sam My 06 just rolled 21,000 miles and I just took a couple of 200 mile trips. Driving 65mph I got 23.3 and 21.8 hand calculated with winter blend fuel. I drove these same trips, same speed, last summer with summer fuel and was at 19.8. I have noticed almost 2mpg loss with winter blend. If my summer hwy milage avgerage is 23 that would be a impressive jump from last summer. Lets hope so.
